I make no bones about this, erm in fact that may be a poor turn of phrase but I digress. Whiskey Blue is my favourite New York Bar so far.

We spent a week in New York over my birthday and New Years. Some how I managed to find myself there every night!

Owned by Randy Gerber (ex? Mr. Cindy Crawford), it is located to the left of the entrance to the W Hotel. The fabulous looking staff wear minimal black outfits and serve the demanding (and beautiful) clientele with everything except Caipirinhas or Red Bull. Given that was our staple diet we were forced to drink everything else the bar had to offer (and I do mean everything) or smuggle in Red Bull (that was a very messy night!!).

Thank you so much to Jennifer, Jennifer, Laurie, Aleesha and the rest of the staff for putting up with us, being so tolerant and generally just letting us have a laugh.

Not as big a fan as Karim's (I don't think anyone could be), but there's no denying the attractions of this place. Girls - I am reliably informed by a member of your clan that unless you are totally comfortable with yourself and your relationship - don't go here with your boyfriend! It won't necessarily be the other customers he'll be ogling, as the barstaff are mostly stunning (or stacked and wearing not much, which counts when you're drunk).

Drinks are expensive and it can be a pain to get in (especially if in large groups), but the service is good, and you can reserve tables (or flirt outrageously with the staff which also works). If you're in New York, and you get the chance, definitely check this place out.

For a quieter (although just as expensive) drink - or a coffee etc. - try the lobby bar. Staffed by the same quality of eye candy, this has a 'real' fire, sofas and comfy chairs to lounge in. Just be careful sat at the bar, where 'just one more' can sink late into the evening (thanks Karim - haha!).


Final Word: Smart, expensive, heavy on the eye and the wallet - we like it! Watch your girlfriend doesn't get too jealous - or at least be a little bit subtle as you look around :-)
